Premium Alfalfa Timothy Cubes
Standlee recommends feeding Alfalfa Timothy Cubes to growing, underweight, performance horses, horses with gastric ulcers, breeding stallions, and pregnant and lactating mares. Alfalfa Timothy Cubes are safe for metabolic horses (e.g., obese or insulin-resistant horses; Laminitis, Founder, or Cushing's). Cubes are formed by chopped forage and a small amount of bentonite being forced through a large dye with heat and steam. The size of a cube may slow down aggressive eaters providing efficient digestion.
Feeding Instructions:
Forage is the most important component of a horse's diet and should be fed at a rate of 1.5-2.5% of a horse's body weight. Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee over a seven to fourteen (7-14) day period.
Feeding Recommendations:
For increased hydration and horses with dental issues, cubes are recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water (2 parts water to 1 part cubes) for 30 minutes of until properly softened. Stanlee recommends that cubed forage is not the sole source of forage for horses since feeding some long-stem forage may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices. If you have questions, contact the nutritionists at Standlee or consult you veterinarian.
Feeding Tips:
- Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount
- Horses that have dental problems of for horses that aggressively consume their feed, Standlee Premium Products cubes and pellets are recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minute or until properly softened
- Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses
- Always provide free-access to fresh, clean water
