Premium Alfalfa Cubes

Standlee recommends feeding Aflalfa Cubes to growing, performance horses, horses with gastric ulcers, and pregnant and lactating mares. Alfalfa Cubes are high in protein and digestible energy, and low in sugar. Cubes are formed by chopped forage and a small amount of bentonite being forced through a large die with heat and steam. The size of a cube stimulates chewing and may slow down aggressive eaters providing efficient digestion.

Feeding Instructions:

Forage is the most important component of a horse's diet and should be fed at a rate of 1.5-2.5% of a horse's body weight. Gradually replace existing hay with Standlee over a seven to fourteen (7-14) day period.

Feeding Recommendations:

For increased hydration and horses with dental issues, cubes are recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water (2 parts water to 1 part cubes) for 30 minutes or until properly softened. Standlee recommends that cubed forage is not the sole source of forage for horses since feeding some long-stem forage may help eliminate boredom and prevent stall vices. Feeding Tips:

• Weigh the amount of forage provided to each horse to ensure you are feeding the proper amount
• Horses that have dental problems or for horses that aggressively consume their feed, Standlee Premium Products cubes and pellets are recommended to be fed wet, soaked in water for 30 minutes or until properly softened 
• Never feed moldy or insect infested forage to horses
• Always provide fee-access to fresh, clean water
