The Shootout was arguably 2022's most exciting Benchmade debut, so when fans asked us for more color options, got to work. New for 2023, the 5370FE-01 and 5370FE-02 retain the Flat Dark Earth CPM-CruWear blade as well as its exceptional strength and toughness and exchanges the original black handle for Crater Blue and Cool Gray Grivory with a new lanyard pommel in place of the glass breaker of its predecessor. Powered by the spine-fired release, the Shootout is a double-action out-the-front automatic that truly packs a punch and carries light.

Blade Style

Tanto: This shape is easily identified by the angular lines. The knife edge is flat and transitions with a hard break in the angle from the tip to the primary edge.

Blade Steel

CPM-Cruwear Super Strong Tool Steel (63-65HRC): An air-hardenable, non-stainless tool steel that has an exceptional balance of extreme toughness, strength and wear resistance, making it an excellent choice for general purpose, hard-use cutting tools.

Handle

Grivory: Glass-filled thermoplastic composite known for being extremely light and durable. Widely used for automotive, industrial and aerospace applications.

Opening Action

Automatic: "Autos" have a button or other actuation switch that mechanically fires the blade open without the user directly manipulating the blade.

How it's Made

Laser-cut from sheets of high-grade steel, every Benchmade blade is ground, beveled and finished with uncompromising precision. Mill and machine handles in-house to the most exacting specifications and every knife is hand-assembled and sharpened by highly trained technicians bringing to bear over thirty years of manufacturing excellence in the state-of-the-art factory in Oregon City, Oregon.

Uses

Proper care and regular maintenance help make your Benchmade knife yours, for life. Here are some tips for keeping your Benchmade in peak condition

• All steel, regardless of price and grade, can eventually rust, so it's important to keep your knife dry and lubricated. If spotting or rust occurs, semi-chrome metal polish will often take care of it
• Dishwashers can cause serious damage that is not covered under the warranty, so make sure to hand-wash your Benchmade under warm water with dish soap only and dry thoroughly
• Remember, knives are cutting tools and you should never use your knife as a pry-bar, screwdriver, chisel or punch, unless the knife is designed explicitly for those purposes
• If you choose to sharpen your blade yourself, avoid grinding wheels and other high-powered machinery
• Handle, pivot and pocket clip screws may require occasional adjustment using T6 & T10 Torx drivers. Recommend applying a small dab of releasable thread-locker as needed
