Pressure Connections 3/8 Male ORB X 3/8 Female NPSM Swivel 90° Elbow Adapter SAE O-Ring Boss fittings seal with an o ring at the base of the male fitting against a chamfered area on the female port. SAE O-ring boss is typically seen in porting applications such as cylinders, pumps, motors and valves.
Dryseal American Standard Taper Pipe Thread (NPTF) which is usually referred to as just pipe thread or tapered pipe thread seals in one of two ways. The first method is interferance between the threads on the male and female connectors - a thread sealant is typically used in this application. This is typically used when connecting a male connector to a female swivel connector. In this application thread sealant is not used.
