For Maddie Albertson, the days don’t stay in one lane for long.

Mornings can start in the studio with paint on her hands, and end out past town checking cattle or moving through cold air that doesn’t care about what you had planned. Madeleine's wardrobe has themes of functionality, durability, and practicality. Nothing is purely for show, and everything has to earn its place.

There isn’t really a “getting dressed” moment. It’s more like stepping into what the day asks for.

It starts with the 501s.

Vintage, 100% cotton, already broken in by someone else’s life before they ever made it into hers. That’s part of what she loves about them - the durability, but also the history. They don’t feel new, and they don’t need to. Then 501s are the ultimate classic when it comes to denim.

Under everything, there’s the classic white thermal shirt.

Waffle knit, simple, and always there when she needs it. It’s not the piece that gets noticed first, but it’s the one that makes everything else possible. Warm, perfect for layering, and adaptable. It’s the perfect fashionable basic for a denim-ondenim look, that also works perfectly under coveralls if she ends up heading to the ranch later that day.

Over time, the thermal stops being clean in the traditional sense. Sleeves rolled, pigment worked into the fabric, paint and dirt collecting like proof of what the day asked of it.

It doesn’t just show up to the creative process. It gets absorbed into it.

Then the Wrangler comes in — oversized, worn, and already lived in before it ever arrived in Maddie’s closet.

She found it through a vintage pop-up, tied to an old farmer’s wardrobe, and that origin makes all the difference. There’s something about clothing that’s already proven itself through hard work. It doesn’t feel fragile. It feels like it understands what’s coming.

The collar, slightly torn yet still intact, is one of the details she notices most. But it’s the ease of it that stays. Something you can throw on without overthinking, something that still holds up whether you’re in town or somewhere further out where the roads get quieter.

On her feet, you’ll find some incredible, very chic boots.

The crocodile Dan Post boots carry texture first, something she was drawn to immediately. But what’s kept them in rotation is how naturally they fit into everything else she does. Leather that softens with time, that moves between business meetings, art walks, dinner with friends, and studio days without needing to be swapped out.

They’re practical and comfortable in the way real life demands, but they still have a distinct look that matches Maddie’s art perfectly. Western, textural, and captivating.

And then there are the coveralls.

These live differently than everything else. Not in the closet, not styled in advance, just ready. Thrown on when it’s time to paint, and used like a paint rag, and a canvas of its own.

She collects them, but not in a curated way. It’s utility more than anything. One piece that solves the entire question of what to wear when the paint starts flying.

Paint doesn’t feel like damage here. It feels expected. Layers of pigment, quick changes, brush marks that don’t need to be cleaned off before continuing.

They’re not just protecting the clothes underneath. They are a crucial part of the creative process, and an art piece of their own.
