Tempo is best for using on: animal runs, animal holding areas, animal quarters, boarding kennels, chicken houses (when birds are not present), dairy barns, feedlots, horse stables, kennels, livestock barns and holding facilities, storage areas, storage rooms, trailers, turkey houses, utility rooms, and rooms in animal facilities.

Bottom line: Tempo SC Ultra Pest Control is a great product for anyone that needs to control or kill various pests in or around their animal facilities.

How does Tempo SC Ultra Work?

A broad-spectrum pest control, Tempo contains 11.8% beta-cyfluthrin. Beta-cyfluthrin is a fifth-generation pyrethroid insecticide. This means it is fast-acting and requires only minimal doses to eliminate insects. Plus, it’s odorless and it will not stain or cause damages to surfaces.

Pros of Tempo SC Ultra

  • Tempo kills more than 60 pests, including flies, ants, spiders, darkling beetles, ticks and fleas as well as Asian lady beetles, silverfish and wasps
  • Tempo is easy to use
  • Tempo will not stain, or damage painted or varnished surfaces or other surfaces where water applied alone causes no damage

Cons of Tempo SC Ultra

  • If used outside and if it rains, Tempo will wash off the applied surface. So, you may need to re-apply it. However, if you do need a pest control that won’t wash off in weather conditions, you may want to consider using a product like Annihilator Polyzone instead. Annihilator Polyzone’s formula protects the active ingredient from weather, wash-off, and mechanical abrasion. It also lasts longer than Tempo, which can save you money over time because you won’t have to apply it as often.

Is Tempo SC Ultra Safe to Use?

Bottom line: Yes, Tempo SC Ultra is safe to use and can be used any time of year to prevent and control pests.

However, keep in mind:

  • Don’t allow Tempo to drift onto crops or during weeks on which bees are actively foraging
  • Tempo is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates.  This means you should not apply Tempo directly to water or areas where surface water is present or in intertidal areas below the mean high-water mark. And, do not apply it when it’s windy as drift may occur.
  • Also, animals should not be present when you're spraying Tempo. It will dry relatively quickly but it is best to wait about two hours before re-introducing animals back to where you’ve just sprayed. Plus, any foodstuffs infested with pests should be removed and destroyed.
  • And, of course, do not use Tempo in commercial food/feed handling establishments, restaurants or other areas where food is commercially prepared, processed, or served. (Food utensils and insecticides don’t mix!)

How to use Tempo SC Ultra

Tempo is meant to be mixed with water and applied with a pump style sprayer or trigger spray bottle. For best application, you’ll want to use a low-pressure system with a fan type nozzle to uniformly cover areas. If you need to, you can re-treat areas 7-10 days after your initial application. Tempo lasts roughly 6-8 weeks, depending on where you spray it.

A good rule of thumb is to spray Tempo during spring cleaning around late April or early May, then again around the Fourth of July, and again around Labor Day.

When you spray Tempo, it will look like a white, milky substance. And, depending on how porous the surface is, it might run a bit. For example, wood is more likely to absorb Tempo, whereas it might run down a metal wall.

For indoor applications: spray the railings, fences, beams, cracks between boards, cracks in the floor, and doorways.

For outdoor applications: spray at least the first four feet from the ground up the side of the building. If your barn or building has a cement base, be sure to spray that too.

And, make sure to read the product label for complete product information, indications and applications instructions.

If you are using Tempo 32:

Pour the entire contents of the bottle into a 2-gallon sprayer, add 2 gallons of water and shake well. Then it's ready to use. This will treat around 2,000 square feet or roughly the size of half a basketball court. For example, the entire two gallons is probably more than enough to treat both the inside and outside of a small barn that is roughly 20-feet by 30-feet in size.

If you are using Tempo 240:

Shake the bottle well, then use the tip-and-pour container to measure how much product to use. One 240 mL bottle will make 30 gallons of spray when mixed at 8 mL per gallon and 15 gallons of spray when mixed at 16 mL per gallon. Mix at 16 mL per one gallon of water under conditions of severe pest infestation or when quicker knockdown and/or residual control is needed.

Easy to use, Tempo is a fast and effective pest control that fights back against out-of-control pests.
