EASTERN WASHINGTON FISHING REPORT 12.27.17

Omak Lake

We are at that wait and see time for the start of what we call the spring cruising at Omak Lake. Most years at about this time we start to see the pods of lahontan cutthroats cruising in close to the shore lines. I would wager that after this weekend we might start seeing some positive signs of this event. Don’t let the lack of visible fish deter you from casting a line. The areas at the north end of the lake have been slow around Nicholson (Beer Can) Beach and Mission Bay. The southern area at Cowpie Beach has been producing a little more action. #14 red Conehead chironomids and #8 black leech patterns suspended under an indicator was getting results. #6 olive Sculpinator would be my choice for streamer action. We will keep our fingers crossed that the pods start cruising real soon.
