Mead store updates to help maintain Traditions

North 40 Outfitters of Mead North 40 Outfitters of Mead

1.) We live in an area here where we have great access to dozens of lakes, streams, rivers and a plentiful selection of game to hunt within a quick drive.  The spring turkey season is a big kickoff to the sporting season with fishing opening up at that time too. The deer and elk seasons in late summer/early fall also show big numbers of sportsmen. Fishing can be a year round thing here too, with limited waters open all year. This last ice fishing season was pretty much a bust around here due to the mild weather, but normally the northern lakes are a hit in January through February. There are also several places to coyote hunt year round to get that hunting fix when most other game seasons are closed. To sum it up, there is always some sort of sporting option in our area.

2.) I guess the first thing I would like the customers to know is that we do have the sporting goods department back here. Several times daily we still here the "I didn't know you guys had this back here." Every time an ad goes out with firearms in it, it brings hundreds of people in that had no idea we had firearms. We have what I would consider a very knowledgeable group back here that is also learning and growing with the store and department.

3.) On a daily basis we have people thanking us for carrying what we do to save them from having to drive in to town or all the way to Idaho to get their hunting/fishing needs. We are also located on one of the major highways north for sporting access so we can be a good stop for someone who may have forgot something or someone who does live in town and just wants to pick everything up on their way out to their favorite spot. A lot of our base customers at this store do not like to travel in to town, so for some of those people, I think bringing in the sporting goods has refreshed their excitement to get back into hunting or fishing that they may have just given up on before for the reason of not going to town for those needs.

4.) I believe our department has an excellent complement of knowledge from one person to another. We do have a couple people who are trying to learn the ropes, which is even making the veterans back here stronger. I have been lucky to have a lake cabin in my family from before I was born and it has been my place of peace. I would spend most of my weekends and summers up there as a kid and to this day I spend as much time there as possible. I have grown up fishing and hunting with my father and I have continued that pastime with my friends. I also lived in Denver, CO for several years where I spent most of my free time in the mountains hiking, camping and fishing. I have around five years in the sporting goods/hunting retail business between North 40 and Sportsman's Warehouse. I still have a slot to learn but I feel very confident in the decisions I am making and the knowledge I pass along to customers.

5.) I cannot pinpoint a certain experience, but I feel my father kind of branded the whole outdoor scene into me as a child. I believe most of it goes back to spending so much time with him at the cabin and just learning from him as I grew up.

Hope this helps any potential or current customers-- and if you have any questions feel free to call,
