Hey guys, Ken here with North 40 Outfitters, Lead Archery Tech at our West Great Falls location. Today, I’m just going to go over proper bow grip and why it's important to have a good grip on your bow. With the bow grip, what you want to do is you have a lifeline on your hand that runs straight down right here. You want the grip to stay between that line and your thumb -just pressing straight against the hand just like so. And you want nice even pressure top to bottom of your hand. You don't want to feel like it's high or low. You just want, it's your hands just holding the bow there. It's not letting the bow come back at you. You're trying to take all the torque out of it. What a lot of people like to do is they like to just get their hand in it and grip the bow.

How to Properly Grip a Bow?

I'll go ahead and show you by shooting through paper why improper grip can really be detrimental to your shooting. So, I'm going to grip it the wrong way, and then I'll grip it the right way. So, this is how most people would want to try and grip a bow.

So, you can see pointed one here and the tail kicked out to the left. And then this time, I'm going to grip it properly letting it just push against the palm of my hand staying between that lifeline and my thumb. You can see, perfect bullet hole.
