  3. Coeur d'Alene Fishing Report 10.04.18

    Coeur d'Alene Fishing Report 10.04.18

St. Joe River The St. Joe River is still very floatable from Marble Creek Down to Big Eddy. There are a couple of gravel shelves to get out and push across. The dry fly fishing has been good, use blue wing olives, and hares ear soft hackles especially on overcast days.  There is also good mahoganies and October caddis hatch too. Spruce moths are still hanging around, but the fish are not eating them as enthusiastically as in the past few weeks. A chubby will still be a good lead fly for your hares ear and prince nymphs.  Finally, streamer fishing is also very good right now and will help you to get bigger fish. Coeur d’Alene River Here, the fall fishing is fantastic, and the river is as beautiful as ever.  October caddis, bwo’s, and mahoganies are all out in force right now, and the dry fly fishing is great too.  This is also a ...

  4. Eastern Washington Fishing Report 10.04.18

    Eastern Washington Fishing Report 10.04.18

Omak Lake (WA) Fishing from shore is still producing bites as hungry Lahontan cutthroats prowl just out of sight of the shoreline. Schools of minnows are moving up and down the shoreline and as such this will keep the hungry cutthroats close by. All three areas, Mission Bay, Nicholson Beach, and Cowpie Beach are producing good results. Since my last report, the only boat launch that is still open is at Nicholson Beach. This can be a little tricky but doable. Look it over before you try launching your boat there and then make your own call on it. It goes without saying minnow patterns are the fly of choice right now. One pattern that worked very well was the Bown’s Mandolin Minnow in white, or white and gray. You’ll want to fish it on a type 3 sink tip or a full intermediate line close to the bottom, in 3 to 10-feet of water. A ...

  5. Lewiston, Idaho Fishing Report 10.04.18

    Lewiston, Idaho Fishing Report 10.04.18

Lochsa River (ID) The current flow is 398 cfs at Lowell. Fall fishing has hit the area! The mornings are becoming crisper, and the trout know that it’s go-time to gorge the gut as they try to fatten up before winter. The fishing is outstanding this time of year. October caddis are flying around, so an orange stimulator or an October caddis pattern will get the job done. Plus, streamers bring fish up and out of their hiding spots too. North Fork Clearwater River (ID) The current flow is 888 cfs at Canyon Ranger Station. A big spike in water has happened since last week. We aren’t sure if the river is blown out, and no reports from the NF have come through the shop. With the water being higher, you’ll want to take out the streamer rods and target the bigger fish that will be mulling around. Clearwater River (ID) The flow is 2,990 cfs...

I've got the new Yum Pulse Swimbait. This is a three and a half inch version. We have a bigger version, but for me, I like the smaller version because to me it's more versatile. I can put this on a jighead, run it up on there, fish it over open water. The fish are feeding on smaller profile minnows, or if they're schooling, you can actually just run a straight-chained hook through this bait and cast it and reel it real slow on top of the water. It'll stay up there high in the water column, but the...

  10. Fly Fishing 101: How to Repair Waders Using AquaSeal

Fly Fishing 101: How to Repair Waders Using AquaSeal

The fall weather has been showing its presence. It’s my favorite fishing season. During this time, my waders always tend to leak when the steelhead are running, and the rain is pouring. It is cold and can be miserable at times. And, having a pin-sized hole in my waders makes it worse. Over time, waders show wear, get holes in them, and the seams start to leak. It seems like I've been in this situation every year of my fishing career. Instead of exploring the options of having your waders repaired, why not extend the life of them to keep yourself on the river? Looking for the perfect pair of waders? Check out our selection. What is AquaSeal and Tenacious Tape? AquaSeal and Tenacious Tape are two inventions that help us, fishermen, extend the life of our waders. AquaSeal is a urethane adhesive. Tenacious Tape is an all-purpose waterproo...

We're in a Strike King booth 2018 ICAST and here's a product I'm super excited about. We've got a ton of new stuff coming out with this new year but this is the mega dawg.   I love throwing a big bait, you know I started throwing some big swim baits, and you see these fish come out and eat it. Fly of the Week: Galloup's Mini Dungeon

Versatility is what creates a successful angler. So, ask yourself, why not fish with a versatile fly? Galloup’s Mini Dungeon offers a multitude of applications and becomes the target of brute fish of different species. An effective pattern for both trout and smallmouth, the Mini Dungeon can be fished effectively through deep runs and current seams where Mr. Big lives, stripped across structure, and swung through long sloped runs for heart-stopping grabs. Want to learn about last week's featured fly? Check it out here. Trout and bass have the feed bag on during the fall, and streamers fit the bill for an easy meal. Match the color to resemble local forage fish your target species are preying upon. Plus, don’t overlook this pattern for trout spey either.
