10 More Days of ATA #8—Video Your Hunts With Tacticam’s 5.0 Zoom

tactacam review

The new Tacticam 5.0 series is actually two 4k HD cameras in one. One has a regular lens with an upgraded 8X zoom, the other is built with a wide-angle lens for field of view up to 120 degrees. These cameras are equipped with all sorts of features, like WiFi compatibility for live feeds, remote control, auto adjustability in low-light conditions, and a battery life of 2.5 hours. Best, this camera is small, easily mounts to your bow, and captures a real hunting perspective. After a shot you can review in slow motion, via WiFi to your phone, to determine placement.

This year the exciting news is at the ATA show is we've announced we're coming out with the 5.0 series of cameras. I said series because we have two models this year. Same camera, two different lenses. I'll go over the first one, the 5.0 regular, all the same features you expect from Tactacam. That real eye distance, vibration controls, blackout mode, two and a half hour battery, completely weatherproof, microphone but we've upgraded a lot of the internal.

The nice thing this year with the upgrade is we didn't change the size of the camera to give you more to pack in... We actually just used the same camera, we updated the features inside. All your mounts are still compatible. With the 5.0, we've upgraded the 4 from 2.7k max resolution to 4k at 30 frames a second. You now have the wifi option, can livestream to Facebook right from your Tactacam camera so you connect it up and then you're good to go. You can actually livestream your hunt right from the field, you don't have to download your footage and send it to anybody anymore. It's going to change the game that way.

We do have a remote that can control up to five cameras at one time. The really nice thing about that remote feature is it allows you to remotely turn on your camera. We've got a lot of great videos from hunters and some creative ones. We've got guys who put these out by their turkey decoys, they use the remote to turn the camera on, and now they've got an angle from the decoy, they've got an angle in the blind shooting the bird, it opens up your options exponentially. You can control an overhead camera and up to five different angles at one time.

We have the two different lenses that I mentioned. We have a 5.0 regular and a 5.0 wide. When you hear "wide" we're not talking the standard point of view fisheye lens camera. We just opened up our view to 120 degrees, allowing you to get way more peripheral vision on that. I personally love it for fishing. I get the entire experience in the boat. It doesn't matter which side the fish comes in on, I get all the action. It would be great for an over the shoulder camera. You can have an option here as well, using our universal mount, we make it a selfie camera as well so you can film yourself, get this back angle while you're getting the forward angle with your regular camera. There's a lot of great options there.

Anything 30 yards and in is going to look almost identical to the regular camera, so you don't have to worry about the fear of the point of view fisheye lens of pushing the lens too far away. The 5.0 takes care of that in the wide angle lens.

The camera now has an 8x zoom that is upgraded from the 5x zoom from the 4.0 for you gun hunters out there, you long range hunters, or anybody who's just trying to really get that up close and personal experience, that 8x zoom is going to be fantastic. Especially with that 4k resolution. That combo is going to knock it out of the park with your camera. Then we've also integrated a true image stabilization system into this. All of our cameras as mentioned before, completely shock proof. Everything in front of that lens is completely in focus, you're never going to blur or distort. But now it's got image stabilization, so when you're out there shaking life a leaf because the buck of a lifetime walked in on you, this is going to help take care of some of that shake to make sure your video's as good as it can possibly be.

There's a lot of great things coming from Tacticam with the 5.0 upgrades. We're really excited to put it out there and I look forward to seeing you guys in your local shop looking for the 5.0 cameras.

As hunters we have a lot of options out there when it comes to a point of view camera, but there's only one camera on the market that can truly capture your hunt the way you saw it and the way you remember it out in the field. The reason you want a Tacticam to self film your hunt is three simple reasons. A, you can share your hunt right from the field. We have the wifi compatibility to your phone, you can livestream to social media. A great feature. Number two, we have a 5x or an 8x zoom feature. No other camera out there's going to provide you that. Not to mention the lens design is actually going to make that even better for you, and then the Tacticam lens. It films just like your eye does, so everything you see is exactly how you remember it the day that you hunted it, when you're bringing that memory home you're not going to get home and never see the fisheye view that takes your 20 yard shot and makes it look like it's 100 yards away. With the lens design, our 5x zoom, and our wifi compatibility, this is hands down the best camera out there to share your hunt with.

The 5.0, we upgraded to the 8x zoom. You've got a 4k resolution and you've got the two different lens options, true image stabilization, that's going to retail at $429.99.

So, as always you always want to check with your local hunting regulations. Some states do not allow electronics [inaudible 00:04:11], which means our cameras would not be legal for that. But we do make a head mount. The head mount is nice because A, it makes it legal to use your Tacticam, you still get to go out there and film your hunt and share all the cool stuff that you guys are out there experiencing. We also have a universal mount that goes on the head mount, allowing you to mount it just about anywhere else. If we don't make a mount for it, this universal mount will go with any POV camera mount that's out there on the market today.
