Dansko Nursing Shoes Review

Nursing—the profession that launched a thousand shoe designs. That’s because nurses often spend over 12 hours per shift on their feet, and with that kind of mileage you can bet there isn’t a better judge of shoes. So, when we wanted an honest and genuine review of Dansko’s Coral slip-on shoes, which are specifically designed for the nursing profession, we turned to a local nurse and gave her a pair of Dansko Coral’s to try for a couple weeks.

Check out the Dansko shoes we have online here.

Breanna has been a nurse in Montana for two years. She graduated from Stockton University and moved to Montana to work on Benefis Hospital’s oncology floor. Bre has also worked at a prison in the Great Falls, Montana. When we asked her what she looked for in work wear, she responded simply: “Functionality and comfort.”

This is her review.

Dansko Inner Design + High Arch Support

“One thing I noticed right away was the arch in these shoes,” Bre told North-40 during a recent interview “It’s really high. It felt like I was walking on a ball during the first couple days—it didn’t hurt or anything, it was just a new feeling.”

That “ball” Bre talked about about refers to the anatomical structure of the Dansko Nursing Shoe, which is designed to alleviate back pain for a community of people who work on their feet.

“I had zero back pain wearing these, and going from a pair of New Balance shoes to these is like night and day,” she said. “These shoes just feel like they were built to be worn for days at a time. These are even better than my Allegria shoes because you don’t get liquid inside your foot—these Dansko Corals have a solid top and are much prettier than my Alegrias.”

What color Dansko shoes fit your style?

We asked if she would recommend these shoes to another nurse in the field and she said, “Yes, totally; I’ll give these a 10/10. I know nurses and doctors on my floor who have two pairs of Dansko shoes that they rotate out . . . they’ve worn the same pairs for years.”

Break in Period of Dansko Coral Slip-On Shoes

“One thing I would tell people thinking about buying these shoes is the break-in period is a little bit rough,” she said. “It’s not like the ‘normal’ break-in period for shoes; you don’t get blisters or anything, it’s more about the structure of the footbed.

What makes these shoes great on your back is the support you find in the arch and the heel. But, if you aren’t used to that high arch, it will take some getting used to. That’s what I mean by ‘break-in’ period.”
