Gallagher Turbo Wire - What makes it better?

Gallagher Turbo Wire is one of the best-known secrets in the portable fencing world. When you need a stronger option, Gallagher makes Turbo wire. It’s built to be reliable, super-conductive, and highly portable, Turbo Wire is one of the best choices in areas where weather conditions may be a concern (winds, snowfall, etc). The mix of stainless steel and copper provide long-lasting conductivity in the realm of 40X that of regular poly wire.

  • Nine mixed-metal strands
  • 40 times more conductive than standard poly wire
  • Resistance is 209 Ohms/mi.
  • Four high conductive strands carry the pulse further
  • UV-stabilized and strong for longer life
  • Ultra-white, clearly visible to animals

Hi, I’m Derek with Gallagher Animal Management and I’m here with North 40 at the Mid-States 2017 rendezvous trade show. I wanted to speak for a moment to the viewer on a product that’s been around a long time, but perhaps isn’t thoroughly understood how valuable and useful it is as an animal management tool.

It is called Turbo Wire. Turbo Wire is a poly rope string – however you want to call it – with nine separate metal strands woven throughout it. Six of them stainless steel, four of them are mixed metal copper and tin. So why that? Well the stainless steel adds strength and a measure of conductivity. The copper and tin wires are extremely conductive and add conductivity to this.

This product, this Turbo Wire, is 40 times more conductive than standard poly wire of anybody’s manufacturer. It’s extremely durable – can be used in semi-permanent situations. I can testify that I have some up that has been up for four years by my own home and it is still working like it should the day I put it out there.

The uses of this are almost unlimited, but the most common use we see is in what we call “temporary fencing situations” where we’re going to for a temporary amount of time restrict the flow of any sort of livestock in order to maximize forage.

It comes in several configurations from about a 200-meter roll clear up to a half-mile roll. It can be used for as long as you want to build a fence from it. Awfully good stuff. That’s it.
