Say Goodbye to Backlashes with the new Shimano Curado DC
Shimano’s new baitcasting reel, the Curado DC, opens up the world of baitcasting to even the most inexperienced angler. Housed securely inside the reel is a micro-computer, powered by the spool spinning, that will automatically control spool speed to prevent backlash whether you are throwing heavy or light tackle. Hey guys, I’m Keith Combs. We’re here at ICAST. I’m here with the North 40 Outfitters guys and we’re talking about new products. One that I am really excited about, as well as everybody here at ICAST, is the Curado DC.
DC 150 so that means it’s a 150 size spool and what DC means is digital control. So digital control has been around for a while, but if you haven’t used a reel that has it what it basically means is you have a computer in your reel. It monitors the speed of your spool a thousand times per second, but I don’t want to over complicate this reel because it’s very, very, easy to use.
So even though it sounds complicated what you need to know about this reel is if you’re a beginning bass fisherman you have a dial on the top of this reel. You can set it on four and you can’t throw a backlash and I wish somebody would’ve came out with that 25 years ago when I was learning how to throw a bait caster because I threw a lot of backlashes.
But for the beginner guy, it is a great reel. For the experienced guy I mean it has the same great features as all the Corado’s. Very durable, three different gear ratios, a six two seven four, which is what I use the most and an eight five.
You can back it off to a three or two or one. A one is going to be the loosest, so if you’re trying to bomb you know a heavy crankbait or something that’s a great setting. Something more in the middle of two or three it’s going to cover you for most all circumstances. So, you know a very great reel that’s very versatile. You can throw a lot of things on this one reel and like I said it covers all ranges of anglers. That’s the new Curado DC.
