Gym workouts, running, base layers, and that thing called sunburn. There's always been some sort of techy piece of clothing that helps wick moisture away from the skin and allows us to stay out longer doing the things we enjoy. Whether it's athletic sportswear, cozy warm base layers, or quick-drying materials designed to soak up the sun, technical synthetics have made their way into just about every aspect of our lives.

If you are like me, sooner or later you find yourself wearing gym clothes outside because it keeps you cooler.  You wear base layers to bed because they aren't as baggy as flannels yet keep you warmer. You wear your favorite hiking pants because they are just comfortable.

But what about work? I know the limits of some of my favorite technical pieces, and would not ever put them through the 12 hour work days of a construction site.

There are two reasons I never would 1.) I like them a lot and, 2.) they simply were not designed for those conditions.

I've tried before and ended up with torn and frayed shirts, outerwear and pants that barely made it a few hours.  Until recently, there simply wasn't anyone out there developing technical work wear specifically made for work conditions.

Technical Work Wear

I'm a big fan of company's putting the design concepts and technologies of sportswear to use for their specific purposes.  We carry some great technical pieces designed by reputable companies to help you succeed at the things you enjoy doing the most.  So when Carhartt, a brand known for work, came out with their signature line of Force workwear - that got my attention when selecting a piece of technical clothing that was specifically made for work.

Check out the whole Carhartt Force line for yourself.

Unlike other pieces that tout moisture-wicking performance, Carhartt Force is made for work, not play.  It is designed to keep you comfortable and move freely with you, whether you are out working on asphalt in the sweltering heat, or as a base layer & mid-layer in freezing weather of the Pacific Northwest. Carhartt Force is not meant to play in stadiums, it is designed to help those who build out there on the job site longer.

With that in mind, we put Carhartt Force to the test during our Coeur d'Alene, ID store remodel to explain why it's positioned in our work category. Check out the video below:
