The Montana Trout Story

"In 1974, Montana did something that stunned anglers across the state and the nation: it stopped stocking trout in streams and rivers that supported wild trout populations."

Initially, the decision produced outrage.  Anglers feared further loss of catchable trout. Today, Montana is renowned throughout the world for its strong wild trout fisheries.  40 years later, anglers support the decision and thank the intrepid men who stood strong behind their science and weathered the storm of public opinion.
