Meet Hanna: Miss Rodeo Montana 2015

It seems like I have tried my hand at a little of everything in my short 21 years. Growing up, I had a deep love for animals and I searched for anything that meant I could spend more time in the barn and less time in the house. From choosing the correct tack for my performance horses to winning Grand Champion with my barn cat at the county fair, I've always been involved in livestock and shows.

I'm the daughter of an outfitter, which means that hunting and fishing is a way of life. In the spring, I love to fly fish and hike. I could spend every day on the river catching trout... or attempting to.

When I don't have my crown on as Miss Rodeo Montana, you can find me working as a dental lab technician in scrubs of many colors.

Hanna is the 21 year old daughter of Rocky and Lorell Heckman. Originally from Choteau, representing small town ideals, she now lives west of Great Falls. She attended Montana State University-Northern majoring in Business Management and minoring in Marketing on a full waiver scholarship for rodeo and she is working as a dental lab technician. When she doesn't have her hair curled and the crown on, Hanna enjoys hunting, fly fishing, bible studies, volunteer work, spending time with family and riding her colt, Champ.

When asked why she wanted to be Miss Rodeo Montana, Hanna says "Since the tender age of seven, I have watched my brother compete as a saddle bronc rider and team roper, and becoming an all-around cowgirl is what I have aimed to do ever since. Consequently, over the past 14 years, I have competed in every women's event on every level of rodeo including youth, jr. high, high school, college and amateur associations. Spending each weekend at a small town rodeo across this great state has enriched my life with family bonding, true sportsmanship and many life lessons. Rodeo promotes strong ethics and morals that are consistent with my upbringing and these same values have made me who I am today. Holding the title of Miss Rodeo Montana, the ultimate ambassador for rodeo, empowers me to reciprocate the many benefits of this remarkable sport."

Hanna believes that we are put on this earth to serve others and she plans on being the bridge between the sponsors, fans and contestants to grow the sport of rodeo. Leading by example, she hopes that new faces will be seen across the nation on rodeo committees, in the arena and in the stands.
