What Foods Can I Use for my Kabobs?

How's it going? I'm Garet with Discount Meats. Today, I'm
with North 40 and I will be showing you how to make kebabs. The reason I like
kebabs is you can really use any protein you want and any vegetable, fruit.
Today, we'll be using a cut of New York loin, trimmed down, so there's little
to no fat on it. We also got bacon. We have bell peppers, onions. And we'll be
seasoning it with Alpine Touch.

How do I Prepare my Skewer for the Grill?

When using the bamboo skewers, you want to soak them in water overnight. That way, they don't flare up and burn away when you go to toss them on the grill. You can also use metal skewers. They got all types of skewers out there. When you're cutting all your ingredients up, you want to make sure everything's relatively the same size. That way, when you go to throw it on the grill, it all cooks at the same speed. What you want to do is you just want to give it a nice little healthy sprinkling over all your meat that you're going to be using. I just like to use every little bit here. The nice thing about using a New York loin or some nicer cut steak is you get a little more marbling in it, and it adds a bit more natural flavor into your kebabs here. Just slide it onto the skewer there. And the order of this really doesn't matter. It's all personal preference here. So you leave a little spacing in between each piece that you throw on there. That way, it cooks a little more evenly. Throw a couple of pieces of bacon on there.

Can I Pre-Make my Skewers?

Now that we've got the finished product here, I just want to emphasize on the spacing here again. It's just crucial that you have that little gap in between each product. That way, you have even cooking all the way through. Best way to cook them really, my personal opinion, is on a barbecue grill. Another thing about these, they're super simple. You can pre-make them up and take them out on the boat with you or go camping with them, just have them all made up and ready to go. Thanks for watching guys.
