Hey guys, Ken here with North 40 Outfitters, Lead Archery Tech at our West Great Falls location. Today we're going to talk about paper tuning, what it is and why we do it. So, with paper tuning that's real basic you're gonna stand about five feet away from a sheet of paper, you're gonna shoot the arrow through that paper, and what the paper is doing is, it's telling you how that arrow is coming out of the bow. So, what we really want to do is try and get that arrow flying as straight as possible, which means that bow is gonna do the best job it can of transferring its energy into that arrow, and your arrow is gonna fly much more efficiently because of that.

What's the Main Difference Between Bow Sights?

So, let's go ahead and get started. So, I've got this PSE Nock On Nation Bow. We've got just a nice carbon arrow, we're gonna shoot it through the paper and see what we got.

What we have is really tail high tear, so what we can see is right here is where the point came in and then these lines indicate where the tail came out so the arrow kind of came out angled like this. So, what we want to do is we're gonna go back, we're gonna square some things up, and want to see if we can make it a little better.

What Should the Hole Look Like?

This is what you're ultimately looking for with your tear. It's a nice single hole where the arrow went through and just three lines coming out. We know this bow is shooting that arrow as efficiently as possible. For more questions feel free to swing by your local North 40 Outfitters, or check us out online at north40.com.
