Wheat Montana's 7 Grain Cookie Recipe: Made & Reviewed

What's better than American grown wheat straight from the field to your table? When that wheat becomes a cookie, of course.

Now that our name is out there, (when we wrote this, we'd just changed our name... learn about that here) I've had some extra time in the evenings and have found myself anxious to bake now that fall is settling in.

...Cool weather + fresh baked goods = yes, please.

As I was browsing Pinterest after dinner, I realized it would be the perfect night to bake something. My husband was out of town working, the cat was sleeping on the chair and I was still hungry.

Given my track record with the bread machine, I knew that if I attempted to bake bread- it would be just that: an attempt.

I remembered seeing a recipe on the back of the Wheat Montana flour bag so I decided to give it a shot and see if their "Family Farm Favorite" had merit. I spent the next hour and a half baking pan after pan of Wheat Montana's "Grain Cookies".

The whole cookie recipe is below our version of the culinary "review," basically an entire office of people ate Wheat Montana cookies and responded in a flurry of emails and chats.

I brought them to our home office in Great Falls, Montana the next day to get put to the test. Within the first ten minutes of putting them out for trial, I received a this video:

And these following chats:

"Delicious cookies"

"These cookies would be sooooo good with a tall glass of milk"

"They are awesome! Nice work!"

"This cookie is delicious"

And a yell over the cubicle that said "These cookies are amazing!"

That's Wheat Montana... in cookie form literally "used and reviewed" by an office full of people. While I'd like to say it's my baking skills, truth is, it was Wheat Montana's recipe and their product... I just added it all up.

I guess it's safe to say that these Wheat Montana cookies are Homestead tested and approved.

7 Grain Cookie Recipe brought to you by Wheat Montana

  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 cups Wheat Montana Natural White Flour (I used whole grain)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 cups Wheat Montana 7 Grain with Flax Seed Cereal

Combine eggs, raisins, and vanilla and let stand for approximately one hour, covered.

Cream together butter and sugars.

Add flour, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda to sugar mixture.

Mix well.

Blend in egg and raisin mixture, and 7 Grain Cereal. Dough should be stiff.

Drop by heaping teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350*F for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
