When it comes to meat thermometers, there is quite a few choices out in the market. There's a good old fashioned kitchen thermometer like this digital food thermometer from Napoleon, and there's also the wireless thermometers. I've used all of them in the past. The kitchen thermometer is probably the most reliable. I really like to use the analog thermometer as a backup to my probes. But probably my favorite is going to be ... I always look for a grill that has probes connected to it, and it has the wifi connection.

I was a little bit biased about wifi connection thermometers at first, but they're really a big game changer for me. That just allows me to really monitor my food very closely, and then I can also check what my grill is always set at. I really recommend that you think about the options about a meat thermometer. And if you can work it into your budget, look for a grill or a smoker that has the built-in wifi feature.

Pros and Cons of Meat Thermometers

One of the biggest pros about the built-in wifi pros on a grill is you're going to have several probes. This particular model has four probes, and it also has an individual probe just for the grill itself. This allows me to do different meats, or hit different temperatures. For instance, if my family member likes a rare and I like medium rare, or somebody likes it well done, I can just put those thermometers in and set a goal inside of my app for this particular camshaft. And then I can just watch every single one of those, and just take them out as needed.

Probably the biggest advantage for me though is that I can just really set the food into this grill and just walk away from it. The app that comes with this particular model is really handy. It sends me a notification, and I can literally watch my temperature from anywhere in the world. As long as I have a wifi connection, I can check and control everything on this particular grill.

Wireless thermometers are also really handy. What I like about this is that I can use it in multiple applications. Over here on the other side, we have just a standard propane grill. I've got another smoker inside, too. This just lets me allow to use this particular thermometer on different applications. Not all the grills or smokers are going to have built in thermometers. This particular model is a single probe, but there are other models that come with up to four probes. Again, it just kind of allows you to watch your different meat temperatures and hit those certain temperature that you're looking for.

Lastly, there's a good old meat probe. This happens to be a digital probe, but there's also the ones that are ... the analog that just have almost like a watch-style. I find that these are super accurate because of the technology in them. Particularly the ones that are the dial, I like to use those as my final measurements. This is really handy. You should always one of these available just in case you run out of batteries with your wireless thermometer, or something happens with the technology inside of your grill. Always [inaudible 00:03:08] nice backup to have.

One of the next things that I like to do when I'm just about to take my meat out of the smoker is I like to double check my temperature. I do have a probe connected to this smoker, but I also like to just double check one more time just to confirm that I'm at the desired temperature.
